From time to time, you might have seen Brewgooder being described as a 'B Corp', but do you know what it means to be a B Corp, or how they're chosen?
This month is 'B Corp Month', and it's all about celebrating purpose-driven businesses. To kick things off, we're going back to basics and looking at what it means to be a B Corp, and why this certification is so important to us.
What is a B Corp?
A B Corporation, or 'B Corp', is a business that has proven that it meets 'high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.'
B Corp certifications are awarded by B Lab, which was founded in 2006 with a vision of a global economy that uses business as a force for good.
Our B Corp Journey...
After going through their rigorous accreditation process, we were so proud to have been awarded B Corp status back in 2018.
Then, in 2021, we were awarded as one of B Corp's 'Best for the World'. This accreditation goes to B Corps whose scores in one or more of the five impact areas assessed towards the certification reach the top 5% of all B Corps worldwide. Being given this award, alongside the likes of Toms and Patagonia, was a true highlight in the Brewgooder journey.
What being a B Corp means to us...
To us, being a B Corp means that we put people at the heart of what we do. Since day one, we've set out to utilise beer as a means of empowering the lives of others. So far, this has largely been through the funding of clean water projects around the world.
We want to do things the right way, and are delighted to be expanding our people-positive mission, locally and beyond.
Brewed on Purpose, always.
