THE RICKSHAW RUN 2019
3 men from Lochaber, 2000km of relentless Indian road, 13 days, countless camels, two amazing charities, and one auto-rickshaw...
At the start of this year, three members of the Brewgooder community - Elliot, Kenneth and James - took on a mighty challenge to raise money for Brewgooder by driving a rickshaw over 2,000 miles across India - and by no means was it an easy task! Raising money with The Adventurists, an organisation who organise various races around the world in the name of charity, these three Abrachs raised an ENORMOUS £1,000 for Brewgooder helping to fund a well repair project in Malawi. Scroll down to see how their journey unfolded...
After just two days in India the worst happened, and James found himself in hospital with a pretty serious injury so Kenneth and Elliot (both lacking driving experience) were left to complete the rest of the journey from Bangalore to Jaisalmer... On their ‘pumped up lawnmower’, the boys hit the road!
After driving through jungles, seeing monkeys, spectacular architecture, and being saved by locals after a break-down, they reached their final destination - Jaisalmer. Kilts on. Beers in hand.
What an incredible journey. Jungles, mountains, deserts and beautiful cities, India seems to have it all. The boys say "it was a great adventure and all for a worthy cause".
