IMPACT: Introducing our new coffee and vanilla stout!
Our first ever stout in collaboration with Pact Coffee
When beer and coffee collide, you get IMPACT.
Today we are excited to announce the launch of our first ever stout, in collaboration with Pact Coffee.
We began chatting to the team at Pact back in June, bonding over our shared passion for ethical and purpose-driven business. It didn’t take long before talks of brewing a beer together were on the table, and with Pact’s range of ethically sourced coffee beans at our disposal, it seemed the perfect opportunity to create a coffee infused stout.
Pact was founded in 2012, and their coffee beans are sourced through the Direct Trade model. Why? It’s a mutually beneficial set-up. You get the best coffee, and farmers a better deal. Paying significantly over Fairtrade rates means coffee farming isn’t just a viable career choice, it’s a profitable one. And it means they grow even better coffee - which you get to drink.
With over 18 different coffees on rotation from 9+ origins, Pact’s coffee has a variety of roast profiles and flavours to suit every preference. We wanted to choose a coffee that not only enhanced the beer flavour but that had mutual significance to both parties. The current house blend from Pact originated from Brazil and Rwanda, the latter of which Brewgooder has connections with for Clean Water Projects. After a vigorous taste test (a lovely cup of coffee), we loved the profile of the beans and our selection was confirmed. We decided to commit the profits from the beer to one of the countries where the coffee originated – Rwanda.
Despite astounding progress in the last 25 years in economic growth, education and public health, waterborne diseases remain the leading cause of death in Rwanda. With a population of 11.6m, only 62% have access to basic sanitation services, and 77% have use of improved drinking water sources. Over the last four years, Brewgooder’s partner The One Foundation has been supporting Everyone Forever – a life-changing programme that is working with key stakeholders such as local government, communities and utilities companies to delivered piped water into the districts of Rulindo, Kicukiro and Gicumbi. This sustainable clean water service will reach over 44,000 people this year, across 71 communities.
Through this programme, every community in Kicukiro has now gained access to reliable water services and every school and clinic in both Rulindo and Kicukiro has gained access to reliable water and sanitation services. Brewgooder and Pact are delighted to be contributing to the incredible ongoing work of Everyone Forever and The One Foundation.

About the beer
IMPACT is a lot of firsts for Brewgooder. Outside of beers related to our Global Gathering campaign, it is our first out of category collaboration, our first beer over 5% and our first in 440ml cans!
We decided to go for a higher ABV than usual, opting for 6.5%; strong enough for a warming Winter stout that brings out the roasted flavours beautifully.
A strong espresso aroma compliments the bold roast flavour, with hints of toffee sweetness. Addition of oats to the mall bill creates a smooth, velvety mouthfeel, and to compliment the coffee we added some vanilla, notes of which can be found in the smooth finish.
We’re really happy with our first stout and hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do!
Ethical and sustainable practice is at the heart of Brewgooder and of Pact, and we are excited to be making some Impact together!
This is a super small run for our first release of this beer, so act fast if you want to get your hands on some!
