Brewgooder appoints two new Non-Executive Directors

Welcoming Nicolle Sinclair and Helen Thompson to the board

At Brewgooder, our mission is to empower the lives of others, with a target of bringing clean water to 1m people by 2025. Helping us to achieve this mission is our board of Non-Executive Directors – a team of experienced industry professionals who help to shape our strategic direction by supporting the executive team in their planning and decision making.

We are thrilled to announce two new additions to our NXD team, who will each bring a wealth of value to the Brewgooder team as we progress into 2021.

Impact at Scale – Helen Thompson

Helen joins Brewgooder as a Non-Executive Director following a career leading and building consumer brands across the UK, Europe and global markets in fashion, apparel, footwear and accessories. Her most senior roles including Executive Director positions with Clarks, ECCO and TOMS where she led the European operations for each brand.

Her most recent position with TOMS saw her lead a business with strong purpose and charitable giving at its heart. TOMS was the original One for One® shoe giving company and now devotes significant sums to causes that support its mission ‘Using Business to Improve Lives’ and was awarded B Corp status in 2018.

Helen also sits of the board of Childfund International, a U.S based NGO which works to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children to have the capacity to improve their lives.

Her experiences building commercial consumer brands, leading For Profit purpose-led consumer businesses that actively drive ,meaningful change and her work with a leading Not for Profit organisation will complement our Board as we build the next exciting phase of Brewgooder.

When not working, Helen is passionate about sport and an active life, including tennis, cycling of all kinds - mountain biking, spinning classes and using her bike around town - hill walking and has just started learning to play golf!

In Helen’s words: “I am passionate about purpose-led brands that are driving meaningful change through investing large proportions of their profits to help solve many of the inequalities in our world. Today’s consumers expect this and the work of Brewgooder, both the business they’ve built and the lives they’ve impacted through their water projects, is very impressive, as too is their great beer! I also align closely with shared values of diversity, equality, inclusion and empowerment and cannot wait to support Brewgooder fulfil its full potential as a purpose and people led beer brand”.

People and Talent – Nicolle Sinclair

Nicolle joins Brewgooder as a Non-Executive Director to focus on our People and Talent Strategy, following a career which has focused on scaling start-ups through a people centric approach across USA, Europe and Australia.

Nicolle spent 5 years working as Group Head of Talent at BrewDog where she focused on scaling the business whilst retaining its core culture globally. At BrewDog, is where Nicolle was first introduced to Brewgooder.

Currently Nicolle runs Sinclair Consulting where she partners with businesses going through periods of growth or change, to support them to optimise their businesses and people.

Nicolle sat on the BrewDog Foundation Board which allocated £1 million to charities who applied for funding and worked as a key representative to ensure the money made an impact to those in need.

When Nicolle was approached to sit on the Brewgooder Board she said “I was honoured to have been asked by Alan and James to take on an NXD role. Ever since listening to Alan pitch the idea to BrewDog, I have been involved with the company on a voluntary basis and love the impact and ethos of what this business is achieving and most excitingly what more it can achieve!”

In her spare time, Nicolle is a proud Mum to a little legend Campbell. When not changing nappies and playing in sandpits, she is also a massive fan of extreme sports; skiing, mountain biking and wakeboarding to name a few. Also particular to a Munro or two!

It’s safe to say that both women will add a lot of value to the Brewgooder team, and we cannot be more thrilled to welcome them to our Board.

Our founder, Alan Mahon said:

“To have the input of two amazingly accomplished people is a huge benefit to the Brewgooder Team. Helen has made impact at scale and her TOM's experience will be so valuable to us as we look to kick on with our impact ambitions. With Nicolle we've got someone who has built successful teams around the world in the beer industry and as we look to grow our team her experience will put us on a different level than we have been working on before."

We look forward to working with Nicolle and Helen on driving our ambitious plans forward!
